• Fire damages Marshfield home
    April 12,2012

MARSHFIELD Fire investigators determined an early morning fire on Folsom Hill Road is not suspicious.

Just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Greg Breer and his son were awakened by a smoke detector. Breer attempted to put out a fire at the back of his house, but was unsuccessful so he called 9-1-1.

The Marshfield Fire Department was called to the scene, and with assistance from crews from East Montpelier, Plainfield, Cabot and Walden, were able to get the blaze under control and keep the fire from spreading.

    There were no injuries.

The Marshfield Fire Department determined that the fire started at the back of the house in a utility room.

The Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit was called to determine the cause, but could not. The unit ruled the fire was not suspicious.

The damage to the property is estimated to be $100,000.
