Police search for link to Williamstown car break-ins
WILLIAMSTOWN — Police are probing whether there is a link between a suspicious man stopped on Erskine Road early Monday morning and a rash of vehicle break-ins that reportedly occurred hours earlier.
Officers said they have yet to identify the man they confronted shortly before 6:30 a.m. Monday, after receiving a report from a Williamstown resident that a man fitting that description was seen walking in the middle of Erskine Road.
Troopers went to the scene and stopped a man who they said was in possession of “miscellaneous items” but refused to say where he got them.
Police say they did receive multiple reports that vehicles in the area had been searched between Sunday night and Monday morning, but no items had been reported stolen.
Anyone who might have information about this incident or has discovered items missing is urged to call the state police barracks in Middlesex at 229-9191 or the Central Vermont Crime Stoppers Tip-line at 800-529-9998.MORE IN This Just InBURLINGTON — A woman accused of giving drugs to a woman who overdosed and died and a man who...
