Teachers reach deal; school is on in four Rutland County townsMarch 21,2012
Teachers and school board members in Castleton, Fair Haven, Benson and Orwell reached a deal at 5:30 a.m. this morning, averting a strike.
School is on as scheduled.
Talks began at 6:30 p.m. last night at Fair Haven Union High School and ended around 5:30 a.m. today and were overseen by a federal mediator.
Details of the contract will be revealed later this morning.
An agreement being reached the night before a strike is very rare. The last time it happened was in 2009 when the Winooski teachers and school officials reached a deal at 4 a.m., also avoiding a teacher strike.MORE IN This Just InThe Associated Press Full StoryMONTPELIER — The organization helping Vermont prepare for the federal health care reform has...
